Gas washers
Gas washers or scrubbers are used predominantly in industrial processes to extract certain substances from air or gas. This is done using absorption. Gas washers serve to neutralize one or more polluting substances in an (industrial) air or exhaust gas flows. Their operating principle consists of bringing a liquid (scrubber liquid) in contact with an exhaust flow. Water is the most frequently used scrubber liquid. The scrubber liquid extracts part of the (harmful) gas flow through absorption or chemical reaction.

What is a gas washer?
A gas washer extracts undesirable substances and gases from the air and discharges them. A gas washer is also known as a scrubber. Water is the most frequently used scrubber liquid. This extracts part of the harmful gas flow through absorption or chemical reaction. Substances such as alcohol and acetone are well soluble in water and, therefore, extremely suitable for the gas washer technology.
Gas washers serve to neutralize polluting substances in in air or gas flows. Many industries have to deal sooner or later with undesirable substances. Sometimes, these substances themselves may be injurious to health. For this reason, many companies from the chemicals and pharmaceuticals industry, livestock breeding and waste incineration rely on a gas washer. Gas washers can also extract, i.a., the following substances:
A gas washer consists of three parts, i.e., an absorption section for the exchange of substances, a mist eliminator and a recirculation tank. The mist eliminator removes harmful droplets from the air or gas flow. After the gas washing process, you will have a cleansed air flow.

Environmentally odor control and gas washers
Gas washers are suitable for many different applications. For example, the technology has been developed not only for gas purification and gas desulfurization, but also for odor control. The gas washer is moreover suitable for use in several sectors. You can apply the gas washer technology for surface treatment, the storage and transfer of chemicals and in the primary aluminum industry. A gas washer is able to achieve far-reaching results in various situations and to remove many substances from the air. In addition, installation of your gas washer is not very time-consuming, and even its maintenance does not require much effort. Its efficiency and the low pressure loss ensure that the gas washer is an environmentally-friendly soltion for every branch of the economy.

Various types of gas washers
Even though there are numerous specific types and applications for gas washers, they can be mostly classed within two general categories:
- Open spray nozzles: these spray nozzles have been designed to to spray liquids directly into the process flow. Open scrubbers are dependent on the right size of droplets and process circumstances to maximize the response or mass transfer speed. This speed is mostly dependent on the surface of the ratio of the droplet surface to the volume.
- Packed spray nozzles: These spray nozzles project a washing liquid through a packed materials in a tower causing an upward or horizontally flowing gas stream to flow through the packed material. The packed material is saturated with the liquid and generates a film, allowing the gas and the liquid to interact.
